Not all scientists are atheists, and not all atheists are scientists.

Whereas science is a neutral process of intellectual discovery, as interesting and useful to those with faith as those without it, atheism is an interpretation of that science which declares consciousness, Divinity, Universal design, and by extension religion, to be nonsense. Not all scientists are atheists, and not all atheists are scientists. Science itself can make no judgement about Divinity firstly because it is limited to that which it can verify by theory and experiment, and its tools are not subtle enough to detect consciousness apart from the biological organism manifesting it, making it impossible to verify any form of life other than visible and biological, and secondly, because it cannot detect about 95% of the Universe at all.
Therefore atheism is only a construction of minds disposed to that conclusion, and is indeed a belief system. But it is also an anti trend, whose essence is distilled in its activist proponents. It stands for nothing of itself – the idea is that there is no purpose, no design and no consciousness within the Universe – so without religion, the activists would need to rebrand themselves, perhaps as anarchy. An activist shouting down religion justifies himself by his opposition – whether to the Ten Commandments, Christianity, Intelligent Design, Islam, or obligingly, the religious nature of any society targeted for invasion by those with an eye for their oil and gas reserves: Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and so on.
If religion suggests a moral code to assist evolution towards a state approximated by the concept of divinity, atheism simply denies it. If Intelligent Design suggests that the mathematical odds of molecular machinery assembling themselves are zero, atheism simply denies it. Champions of atheism quickly divert one’s mind from mathematics and towards observed flaws within religious institutions, carefully avoiding firstly any mention of identical flaws arising in every other human institution, and secondly any discussion of the biological roots of religion and genius. As can easily be shown, every global movement is subject to corruption; those movements created by science have unfortunately resulted in the worst abuses of all, being amplified by technologists and unhindered by any moral code. This is the point everyone who prides themselves on shouting down religion should try to keep in mind.
