Christ Church & Wizards
Christ Church is one of the most famous Oxford colleges for several reasons: its size, its wealth, its grandeur and, dare to say it, Harry Potter. But this college’s history spans back over 500 years as Christ Church was founded in 1546 by King Henry VIII.
It was only in 1546 after the break with the Church of Rome and the dissolution of the monasteries that the college was renamed as Christ Church.

Was the break up not a great victory for truth, after all? Ok, i give that. It was a very mundane reason that led to the break up in England. Henry VIII broke from the church and married the now pregnant Anne Boleyn in a secret ceremony. This solved his heir problem, but Henry was excommunicated by the Pope. The English Reformation had begun. T Luthers reformation is one of the most remarkable events in the Church history. And what does it have to do with Harry Potter ? Nothing.
Christ Church College provided the location for many Harry Potter scenes. But Harry Potter has caused many Christians to point at it as being satanically influenced:

Christ Church College also gave its name to Christchurch which is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand and the seat of the Canterbury Region. The name was chosen on 27 March 1848 at the first meeting of the Canterbury Association on the suggestion of J.R. Godley, whose college at Oxford, England, was Christ Church.

And here we go again. Ian Brackenbury Channell is a New Zealand wizard. In 1974, The Wizard migrated to Christchurch in New Zealand and began to speak on a ladder in Cathedral Square. In 1982, the New Zealand Art Gallery Directors Association issued a statement that in their opinion The Wizard was an authentic living work of art and the city council appointed him "Wizard of Christchurch". In 1990 the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mike Moore, an old friend, appointed him the official "Wizard of New Zealand". He initially provided his services free. In 1998, the Christchurch City Council signed a contract with him to "provide acts of wizardry and other wizard-like-services – as part of promotional work for the city of Christchurch" for an annual fee of $16000. This contract was terminated in 2021. The Wizard said he was disappointed but will continue to appear in the city.
