I am the Administrator of this Virtual Library. My name is Otangelo Grasso. I am born and raised up in Switzerland but have double citizenship since my parents are Italian. I speak German, Italian, English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. My profession is machine designer. I am born in 1966. I was raised Catholic. When I was 15 years old, I went through a deep depression. I did not know that my state was clinical, and that treatment was existing. During a few months, I tried to find a solution out and began to pray to God. So after some time, I was healed. Someone where I worked indicated me an evangelical church. So I converted the 29th of December 1984 and accepted and confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior. Later I baptized.

I am married to Leila since 2007, and we have a daughter, Larissa, born in  2013. I live in Brazil since 1996, and since 2006 in Aracaju, about 300km north of Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. I am an entrepreneur in the real estate business. I have no formal scientific education. All I have collected and arguments developed for Gods existence are based on my autodidactic studies. The goal of this library is, as the title states, to present scientific, philosophic, archeological, theological information, which leads in my view to the God of the Bible as the creator of our existence, and Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the Second Person os the triune God, our redeemer, who died on the cross for our sins, and resurrected the third day. 

The story of my conversion

As a child around 8 or 9 years old, my mother would pray the Ave Maria with me before bedtime, which became a nightly ritual. Afterwards, I would pray my own prayers, feeling God's love and that my prayers were being answered. Additionally, my school teacher would tell us engaging stories from the Old Testament every Friday, which I loved. However, this storytelling stopped when I changed grades. Over time, my mother stopped praying with me, and like many children, I became interested in other superheroes like Phantomas, losing my faith altogether.
As a teenager, I went through a period of depression, seeking a solution to the indescribable psychological pain I experienced daily, which my parents didn't understand. After six months, I remembered the effectiveness of my childhood prayers and decided to seek God again. Coincidentally, I came across a book titled "Jesus Christ, the Finished Redemption through His Blood," introducing me to the concept of redemptive forgiveness, something I had never heard of as a Catholic. As I read the Bible, I had many unanswered questions.

One day at work, I mentioned a TV show featuring discussions among a Buddhist, a Catholic, and an evangelical Christian. Impressed by the evangelical Christian's wisdom, my colleague invited me to meet his friend Andy, a member of an evangelistic church. This church held a "Tea Saloon" event every Saturday, preaching, handing out tracts, and inviting people for coffee or tea. After the evangelism, members welcomed guests at the church, where Andy answered my questions about salvation, explaining it comes through Christ's sacrifice and that I needed to receive Christ as Lord and Savior to be born again. Though I thought I was already a Christian, Andy advised me to consider his words before converting. Two weeks later, on December 29, 1984, I went back and gave my life to Christ through a simple prayer.

As a teenager growing up in Zurich, Switzerland with a Catholic background, I grappled with profound existential questions about life's meaning, a higher power, and existential mysteries. During this introspection, I encountered Erich Fromm's insightful book "To Have or to Be," contrasting the "having" mode of pursuing material possessions with the "being" mode of emphasizing authenticity, deep connections, and personal growth. This resonated deeply, encouraging a shift towards engaging with the essence of existence and relationships.

Forty years ago, a work colleague's invitation to an evangelical church named New Life determined my life's direction. There, I was introduced to the path of eternal life through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Embracing this path has been the most rewarding decision, with the Bible's promises becoming tangible experiences and Jesus as a constant, guiding presence through life. This journey illuminated that God crafts a unique plan for each person that unfolds beautifully for those who earnestly seek Him.

It is frustrating when you point out to an atheist, that calls himself the "Rational messiah", that he is making an irrational claim, expose 3 times in all possible ways why he is irrational, and in the end, he still keeps repeating the irrational claim and is unable to grasp why he is wrong.

Ghalib argued that the principle of cause and effect only applies inside this universe. When I explained to him that it doesn't matter, if in, or outside the universe, it is always in place, because, nothing, which is the absence of anything, has no causal powers, therefore, even if outside, or beyond our universe, nothing would remain nothing, he kept repeating that his ignorance about what could or could not happen beyond this universe was warranted. Then, someone else came in, arguing that I had a problem with my argument, because, in order for cause and effect to apply, there has always to be something to transform it, and implied, that God would have had no matter or energy to start the universe. I tried to explain that without God, the situation was even worse. Then, there would be nothing creating something from nothing....

Then, they asked me to give an example of something starting without physical preconditions. I said: A thought from the mind does not depend on any physical precondition. Then they started arguing that the mind depends on the brain. When I quoted experts, they argued that the experts that I was quoting, were not experts in the field.
I could not stand it anymore, and left the stream....  I come in at 42 minutes

John Cleese: Having the problem with people like this is that they are so stupid that they have no idea how stupid they are you see if you're very very stupid how can you possibly realize that you're very very stupid you'd have to be relatively intelligent to realize how stupid you are there's a wonderful bit of research by a guy called David Dunning it Cornell this is a friend of mine and prior to say who's pointed out that in order to know how good you are at something requires exactly the same skills as it does to be good at that thing in the first place which means and it's just every funny that if you're absolutely no good at something at all then you lack exactly the skills that you need to know that you're absolutely no good at it.

What is my worldview?

There are basically two possible causes of the physical world: intelligence, and non-intelligence. I do not think that is a false dichotomy. Every single proposal can be categorized in these two categories. There can be made a subdivision, as a physical necessity, eternal universe, multiverse etc. But they all fall into the category: non-intelligent.

furthermore, I think the case to interpret an old earth based on what Genesis says, is weak.

I am a strong advocate of intelligent design and believe there is overwhelming evidence that permits to infer design and the action of a creative intelligent agency as the best explanation for our existence. 
I believe molecular biology and research of origin of life is where we find the clearest and most convincing evidence for intelligent design, and upon which we can build a convincing case. Many atheists argue that intelligent design is not science, not peer-reviewed, creationism just presented in another package etc. I think none of these arguments are valid or sound,  and solid refutations of intelligent design. I believe, this generation we live in will experience a shift of paradigm, from evolution to intelligent design, through a growing number of biology and chemistry students, which are more open-minded to evaluate both proposals, and to decide with more data on hand. 

Upon my experience, I believe, only reason alone is not enough to become a born-again Christian: What is required, is 1. God's calling and election, and 2. the will of the seeker to find God. If someone does not wish God to exist but seeks an independent life, then no matter, what evidence is presented, that person will not change its worldview.

Greetings from Brazil. The country in South America is well known for football, samba, and Pelé.

I am glad that you've joined me here this evening to hear a message from the bible the Word of God.

I had the honor to meed paster abid on Facebook, and he kindly asked me to deliver a message tonight to you.

I want to introduce myself and tell you about my conversion story.

My family is from the South of Italy, near Naples.  After the Second World War, and Italy lost the war, there was huge disemployment in Italy and no work.

So my parents decided to immigrate to Switzerland, which was neutral during the war and was not involved. So there were more employment opportunities.

They met there in Switzerland, married, and I was born.

My spiritual journey began in my childhood, around the age of 8 or 9. During those years, my mother and I shared a nightly routine of reciting the Ave Maria prayer before I went to sleep.

After she left my room, I would engage in my personal prayers, a ritual that became an integral part of my life.

I would begin with two traditional Catholic prayers, then transition to presenting ten specific requests to God.

This practice nurtured a profound connection, and I genuinely believed that God was responding to my prayers, enveloping me in His love.

Simultaneously, my fascination with stories from the Old Testament, shared by my school teacher every Friday afternoon, kindled my interest in matters of faith.

However, as time passed and circumstances changed, this exposure to biblical narratives waned, leaving me with a sense of loss.

Moreover, as a young child, I held a perception of God akin to that of a superhero, offering a comforting presence.

In a twist of fate, I stumbled upon a book titled "Jesus Christ, the Finished Redemption through His Blood."

This encounter introduced me to the concept of redemptive forgiveness, a revelation foreign to my Catholic upbringing.

Intrigued yet filled with questions, I embarked on a journey through the pages of the Bible, my mind buzzing with uncertainties and a thirst for understanding.

One pivotal day, while conversing with a colleague at my workplace, I recounted a television program

It was featuring a diverse panel of faith perspectives—Buddhist, Catholic, and evangelical Christian. It was the profound wisdom of the evangelical Christian that left a mark on me.

As I shared my impressions with my colleague, he revealed that his friend, Andy, was part of the very church that organized such thought-provoking discussions.

The path to further exploration lay before me, and I eagerly accepted the invitation to meet Andy.

The church hosted a weekly event known as the Tea Saloon, a blend of street evangelism followed by a gathering at the church premises.

Here, I encountered Andy once more, a person of knowledge who illuminated many of the shadows clouding my understanding of salvation.

He elucidated that salvation was realized through Christ's sacrifice on the cross and that true Christianity entailed accepting Christ as one's Lord and Savior, experiencing being born again spiritually.

Although I believed I was already a Christian, Andy's words prompted me to reflect on this anew.

Two weeks later, on December 29, 1984, I found myself standing at the crossroads of a momentous decision.

Armed with the knowledge that had unfolded through introspection and conversation, I returned to the church and, through a simple yet profound prayer, surrendered my life to Christ.

Recently, not very far from where you are, about a 100km distant or so, recently, hundreds of houses have been burned, and also churches, based on blasphemy charges.

Maybe you ask yourself: Why does God permit such harm to his children? Why does he not listen to our prayers, and prevent this to happen?

One answer is the fact that God wanted to create a world granting humanity the freedom to choose between good and evil, even if it leads to negative consequences such as persecution.

God's desire for genuine love and relationship involves allowing humans to make choices, which can include causing harm to others.

Persecution and suffering can lead to spiritual growth, character development, and testing of faith.

Difficult circumstances can motivate the Lord's followers to seek Him more in prayers,  rely more deeply on God, and find strength in seeking Him.

The Bible portrays the world as fallen due to sin, which can lead to suffering and injustice.

God's plan, as understood by many believers, involves ultimately redeeming this fallen world and eradicating suffering in the eschatological future.

Jesus addressed the topic of persecution during his ministry. In the Gospel accounts, Jesus forewarned his followers about the possibility of persecution and provided guidance on how to respond.

In Matthew 5:10-12 , the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said:  "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

And John 15:18-20:"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.

As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.'

If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also."

And Matthew 10:22: "You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."

These verses illustrate that Jesus acknowledged the reality of persecution that his followers might experience due to their association with him and their commitment to righteousness.

He also offered encouragement, emphasizing that enduring persecution for his sake would lead to heavenly reward.

Recently, I had an encounter with a Muslim on a live chat on YouTube. He tried to challenge me on the trinity, the concept that God is triune, God father, God son, and God holy spirit.

As you know, Muslims do not understand Jesus as being God, but as a mere prophet. But on top of that, they also claim that it was not Jesus that died on the cross.

The Quran addresses the crucifixion of Jesus in multiple verses. One verse from Surah An-Nisa (Chapter 4), Verse 157, says:

"And [for] their saying, 'Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.' And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them.

And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain."

If that were the case, Jesus would also not have raised and resurrected, as reported in the Gospels. If that were true, then the Christian faith would be worthless.

In the First Epistle to the Corinthians, chapter 15, verses 14 and 17. The apostle Paul writes: "And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith." "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins."

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a cornerstone of Christian belief. The apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 15, is addressing the resurrection's profound significance.

I told my Muslim interlocutor: If your holy book is right, and Jesus was not crucified, then he did also not resurrect, then my faith in Jesus is invain,

and since I do not believe in your holy book, nor in Allah, I will be doomed, and spend eternity in the hell of Allah.

The Quran describes punishment (Hellfire) for those who have rejected faith in Allah,  or committed grave sins.  Those who consciously and deliberately reject the message of Islam would face punishment in the Hereafter.

For example, in  Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:161-162: "Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers - upon them will be the curse of Allah and of the angels and the people, all together.

Abiding eternally therein. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved."

But if the Bible is right, and Jesus is as described in the Bible, and Muslims reject Gods plan of salvation, as outlined in the New Testament, then Muslims will be condemned, and end up in hell.

In John 14:6, we read, how  "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

And in Ephesians 1:7, the apostle Paul clarifies:  "In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace"

And John 3:16 : "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

This verse, spoken by Jesus in the context of his conversation with Nicodemus, encapsulates a foundational message of Christianity.

Mary Magdalene: All four Gospels mention Mary Magdalene as one of the earliest witnesses to the empty tomb and the resurrected Jesus.

and on the other side, we have a book that was written about 550 to 600 years after the events happened, and written by no eyewitness account, but supposedly only by someone who claims to have had a vision from Allah.

My interlocutor in the YouTube livestream claimed that I had no empirical proof corroborating the New Testament.

But we actually do have empirical proofs of the resurrection.

In Matthew 27:59-60  we read:  "Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock.

And the apostle John wrote in John 20:6-7  describes a faith cloth: He wrote:  "Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb.

He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen."

So two separate cloths are mentioned, one that wrapped Jesus' whole body, and a face cloth.

The linen cloth is the well-known Shroud of Turin, and the face cloth is the Sudarium of Oviedo, held in Oviedo, Spain.

Both cloths are wrapped by the same man, and the Shroud of Turin bears the image of a crucified man.

The image was miraculously made since all science experiments were unable to explain how a forger could have made the image.

So we have the trustworthy accounts in the gospels and the linen cloth that corroborates the narratives in the Gospels. Hallelujah.

Brothers and sisters, Jesus is Lord. He is risen. He left us with empirical proofs. It was Him that died on the cross for our sins. Your faith is the true faith.

Don't hesitate. Believe and be firm in your faith. Great will be your reward. The greatest foolishness is committed by those who renounce of their faith because of persecution.
