Isn’t it amazing that we can recall information and memories at will? How are memories stored exactly? and how are they recalled?
The theory of evolution proposes that everything including memory is a product of natural selection and mutations. As you read about how memory works please ask yourself the question: “Could evolution really produce this?”
Information from all 5 senses (sight,hearing,touch,smell,taste) is constantly entering the brain. This information is remembered very briefly and is called sensory memory. Experts believe that certain parts of the brain are responsible for analyzing the information from these various sensory inputs and deciding if it’s worth remembering. If they are, they may become part of your long-term memory.
It seems that anything from our sensory memory that may be interesting is automatically available for recall for up to a minute after creation.
The more we think about a short-term memory the more likely that it will be transferred into long-term memory.
Remember when you learned to ride a bike or tie your shoe laces? It got easier each time right? The more you repeat the task the easier it becomes even to the point where you hardly have to think about it at all.
